Okay, I haven't gotten to SG-Claus yet. I'm sorry AGAIN guys. I could have worked on it yesterday but ended up posting tutorials instead. Since stargatefangurl set up her gmail calendar to remind her to post the scifi_five challenge on Monday, perhaps I'll have proper motivation to finish it next week?

I do have two stories, written a couple of months apart. The first was something I wrote as a part of my NaNoWrimo project. Nilla, one of the story's main characters, is a dhampir, who just happens to ship Daniel/Janet because I needed something to develop her character into more than just the smart-aleck tough girl. So, this has been sitting on my hard drive since like the first week in November. Not quite two months, but almost.

Anyway. We all know that Daniel/Vala is my OTP, but I do miss Janet, and the ship had such potential. Daniel being caught in his quest to rescue Sha're for the first three seasons, and then, I suspect, his guilt over her death, made it really difficult for them to ever move past the silent attraction stage, though.

3x21, The Crystal Skull has always been one of my favorite episodes. There are so many subtle things there. Team friendship, shippy moments, character development. Most of all, I love Nick. He makes me think how lucky I am to have a real grandpa. My grandparents have always been a huge influence in my life. They gave me stability in my formative years, acceptance later, and always showed me the love of Christ rather than rambling about useless church doctrines that would have gone over my head anyway. If not for that, I don't think I ever would have found genuine faith in anything despite all the "exploring" I've done. So, of course I love that Daniel and Nick have a reconciliation moment at the end. I've always wished Nick could come back on the show, but I think I've explored that quite a bit in Rediscovered Hearts. The Daniel/Janet idea actually came to me when I remembered this icon:

which was done for my claim on the episode over at sg_100.

The Daniel/Vala fic is a post-ep fic for Company of Thieves, completely unrelated to either of my AUs. It was a completely random idea I came up with and decided to use it for the current prompt on sg_xhallenges which is "Tears".

I've got a song stuck in my head. Nickelback. Savin Me. No, it's not a Daniel/Vala playlist song. Also a random scene that is probably going to end up being ficced somewhere in one of my AUs.

I was supposed to be in bed, however, I seem to be quite wide awake and chatting with teddibear, who just beta'd the two fics I finished tonight.

I figured that since I was up, I might as well post them. They were written for sg_challenges. The prompt was "New Life", and I DID (do?) have an idea that had nothing to do with babies. Then my brain went banannas and insisted these be written first. I'll have to do the other one later in the week, if I have time.

For now, two RH follow-ups. The first is set about 4 months after the end of the series. They kind of go together, and the second takes place roughly a year and 9 months later. heh. I consider them independent stories, though. Call them a matched set or something.

I've really been wanting to explore Sam and Vala's friendship more in RH. I'm so blessed to have wonderful best friends who are always there for me and who let me reciprocate. That's how I see Sam and Vala in the series, and although I did lay a lot of groundwork for that relationship, I don't feel like I've done enough with it. The impetus for Here and Now was a real life experience I had over the summer, and the new ending is dedicated to nekkidchick. I love you, baby!

Well, the summer must really be over now. I'm freezing. I know the summer's been over for some time, but I like to stay in denial about that for as long as I possibly can.

Anyway, I have responses for scifi_five and sg_challenges. I had the idea for sg_challenges yesterday morning, but I didn't actually get it done until today. Too busy writing bios for the new RP characters Jess and I thought up last night. I can't believe I actually wrote a DRABBLE. Me! Not only that, it's from Cam's POV. Don't think I've ever written Cam before. Yay, me. For anyone who missed the first chapter in this tale, Edmindos and Lynae are/were a pair of OC lovers that I revamped for stargatefangurl's fantasy RPG, called Eternal Fire so I don't know if this story should be categorized as fanfiction or original work or what.
